Emily arrives home

Yesterday on Christine's birthday, Emily arrived home for three weeks. She arrived safely via Hong Kong into Auckland. Anna and Lucy were there to meet her and then go across to McDonalds so Lucy could play. She then boarded for Wellington and Christine meet the 2.00pm flight. Her friend Anna Kerslake had come up from Queenstown for the weekend so they picked her up and arrived back out at Royal St about 5.00pm. We all had a great curry and a glass or two of pino gris before settling down for the All WHITES game against Bahrain for the chance to qualify to attend the 2010 world cup in South Africa. What a crowd and atmosphere at the Cake tin. Full house of singing, chanting fans bringing the team home 1-0 and the trip to the WORLD CUP. Today not a particularly pleasant day for the Martinborough wine and food festival. Emily and Anna have left on the 9.30am train to enjoy the day out.

Feast of Corpus Christi

"There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so"... ~~William Shakespeare~~
The Eucharist is not simply a meal; it is really and truly the Body and Blood of Christ. It is also the sacrifice that changes our lives. The sacrifice of young bulls that we read about in the Hebrew Bible changed the lives of those who offered that sacrifice. The Gospel of the day repeats the words heard at each Eucharist: “This is my body...this is my blood.” Jesus pointed to his blood as “life,” the source of new life for those who receive it.
This afternoon went over to Peter's place to show him the video I had taken. Peter O'Leary and Me at his place in Whitby
Watched Upper Hutt play Hutt Old Boys Marist in the first round of Jubilee Cup, a win the Upper Hutt 14 - 11 after being tied at 11 - 11 with 8 minutes to go, then Brett Piggot put over a fine penalty from wide out. Meet up with Alan Rau, John Lamb, Peter Barry, Grant Donaldson, John Piggot

Trinity Sunday

"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't

change it, change your attitude. Don't complain."
The first Sunday after Pentecost is the Festival of the Holy Trinity. On this day, the church rejoices in the impenetrable mystery that God is triune (three-in-one) -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. How the Lord can be one God in three distinct persons is completely beyond the ability of any human to understand. By the power of the Holy Spirit, Christians accept this incomprehensible mystery as a fundamental article of faith.
"Yours truely teeing off at 16th this morning on a very cold wintry day. A round of 84"
"Christine checking out REBOUND SHOP, Petone"
Had a busy weekend on Saturday watched Upper Hutt play University Old Boys at Maidstone park. Saw a number of Stream OldBoys as both spectators and players, Tim Fairbrother, Jamie Norman, Peter Mole. Caught up with Pat Mole, Paul Chandler, Lindsay Campbell whom I dropped home as southerly arrived just as the game was finishing. Upper Hutt lost 28 -30 after being 28 -16 up with 15minutes to play.
This afternoon took a spin into Roxborough St, Wellington to view an open home. This townhouse had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, study and a garage with internal access. This property is in a prime location within 3 mins walking distance to Courtney place. Yes something to think about!

Jazz & Blues

Really terrific evening over at Expressions to enjoy the two bands, KOKOMO from Tauranga and Wellington's NEIL WORBOYS AND THE REAL TIME LINERS. It was well supported with about 90. This show was part of UPPER HUTT'S annual QUEENS BIRTHDAY Jazz and Blues Festival.
KOKOMO: Blues Band: Nigel Masters (bass), Derek Jacombs (vocals and guitar), Grant Bullot (harmonical), Sonia Bullot (trumpet)
PENTECOST SUNDAY
The spirit is symbolised by the greek word pneu (air) the breathe of life. This is recognised as the birthday of the Church when Christianity commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, fifty days after the resurrection. The Spirit represents God as living and active in the world today
One way of recovering a sense of spiritual presence is to let the Spirit speak to you through the medium of your own memory. Your dreams, your hopes, your visions of the future, the still small voice of conscience, all these can become channels through which the Spirit is available to us. The Spirit is no stranger in our midst; in fact, the Spirit is moving in a mysterious way through the room where you are sitting right now. Today the Spirit of God blows like the wind through the streets of your city; it gathers like a storm, brooding and blowing across the face of this whole earth.
A wintery blast this afternoon, light snow falling here at home with temperature of 4 degrees. Dropped Emily at airport by 5.30pm for her return to London. Christine had here first evening preparing and serving the evening meal at Te Omanga Hospice

Ollie's birthday

Attended Peg O'Leary's funeral today, great to celebrate her life and catch up with cousins. Peg's service was over at St Theresa's in Plimmerton. A good number to the family were able to attend to farewell a gracious lady who gave unconditional love to her family and faithful service to her friends and community. Peg was then taken through to Palmerston North to be buried with Fred. I then took Mum up to the Fishermans Table restaurant for lunch. It was a good opportunity for rest of the family to join us for a pleasant meal with the back drop of Kapiti Island at our backs. Mum and I then carried on to Tim's for a cup of tea in front of the fire before departing for home.
Trying out LA SIESTA the new Mexican restaurant in Totara Park.

Another busy week at School. Looking forward to relaxing weekend- Golf tomorrow weather permitting

Having Fun on the computer

This weekend has been quiet, with Anna, Andrew and Lucy departing for Auckland last Tuesday after a very enjoyable stay with Gran and Pop. Emily has been busy with work, attending Trilogies Conference at the Bolton Hotel. Yesterday dropped Emily off at the airport for her trip to Queenstown. Called into Miramar and had a coffee at the Chocolate Frog in Palmers Garden Centre. Then around to drop product to Jillian and Scotts in Bell Road before calling in for afternoon tea with Mum. The custard squares went down a treat once again and the lollie cake was well received. Christine has been busy putting items on Trademe and buying at the same time. Glorious Sunday

Today is a brilliant autumn day, after a crisp morning with a mild frost. Played a game of golf and did a 90 so the handicap is slowly going out. That said, it is always a great mental and psychological challenge to endeavour to train the mind to focus of JUST playing the shots instead of trying to think of what you have to technically do at the point of hitting the ball. On the home front busy preparing for the arrival of the family home next weekend to celebrate Lucy's first birthday here at Royal St. Emily arrives Friday from the UK via Hong Kong. Just dropped by my Mums to have afternoon tea ( custard squares and lollie cake) yummy. The Family are looking forward to the arrival of Andrew, Anna & Lucy and Emily this coming weekend
